GCSE PHOTOGRAPHY year 10

Term 1 to 2 Technical unit  

Student to understand the basic principles of photography as well as developing their ability to use the M setting on their camera. Students will also be focusing on developing their editing skills both manually and digitally using industry specific software such as Lightroom and Photoshop. The sub themes throughout the technical unit will be landscape and portrait photography. Students will be expected to analyse the work of photographers and begin to develop a range of responses which should become increasingly personal and meaningful.

Term 3 GCSE style question 

Students will be introduced to their first theme-based GCSE style question. Using prior knowledge acquired during their technical unit, students will develop a body of work based on a previously set external examination type question. They will be pushed into thinking both conceptually and creatively about the topic. Be introduced to a range of artist and photographers that will inherently support their decision making during this process. They should also find ways to resolve their project through the development of a final outcome, thus fulfilling all assessment criteria set out by Edexcel.
