Pop Art and Portraiture
Students will Learn about Pop Art, focusing on the work of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein to develop their research skills as well as gaining a deeper understanding of what motivates artists. Students will learn how to draw a portrait in proportion and draw accurate facial features. Students will learn how to show strong contrast in their work, both traditionally and with digital media.

Term 2Â
Mixed Media, Text and Layers
Students will continue to study pop art through the work of Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg as well as more contemporary artists like Shepherd Fairy and Banksy. Students will experiment with text in their art and learn the importance of using layers and a range of media to explore their ideas.

Term 3Â
Design
Students will use their research, skills, knowledge and understanding gained to create a mixed media design suitable for a skateboard or contemporary t-shirt, incorporating portraits, text and layers.
In a daring midnight adventure, students infiltrated the famous Dalt Vila and graffitied their designs onto the ancient walls. Their work, inspired by street artists like Banksy, Invader and Shepherd Fairey challenged the complicated world we live in today.Â
Students experimented with street graffiti, logos, popular culture and designed their own skate deckart. The decks were made in DT lessons and finished in art.
